| The
Advisory Committee is an experienced group, comprised of top
managers of technology companies, chief information and technology
officers from various industries and government, and information
science experts from academia. The
appointment of this Advisory Committee exemplifies our dedication
to the advancement of the local IT industry and is a key step
towards closer co-operation between our industry segment and
the wider business community. The
objectives of the establishment of the Hong Kong Information
Technology Industry Council (HKITIC), and hence the Advisory
Committee, are -
to support the development of software and IT industry in
Hong Kong; -
to unite Hong Kong IT companies and related businesses in
developing the industry in Hong Kong and overseas; -
to act as the Federation's interface with both the SAR Government
and Hong Kong industries on IT and related matters; and -
to review the Government's IT strategies and development programmes,
and to make recommendations in the interest of Hong Kong in
general and the IT industry in particular. We
want Hong Kong to be the leader in IT. We need to embrace
change to be successful and competitive. Sharing resources
and information between companies is clearly the way forward.
I trust the Advisory Committee will become an enabling force
in developing Hong Kong into a leading e-business community.
Let
us work together to build a successful IT community for Hong
Kong!
